The Annual Spring Luncheon, benefiting the Alcoholism Council of New York (ACNY)
and the National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence (NCADD), is held each
year in April in New York City. We invite Companies to join us as corporate sponsors
for this exciting event. In previous years, over 350 people from the New York area and
around the country have attended. The Luncheon is a fun-filled event that helps NCADD
and ACNY raise awareness about alcoholism and other drug addictions, in addition to
raising vital funds to assist individuals and families struggling with the disease.
Awards are presented to individuals who have been active in combating stigma and
discrimination against persons in recovery and in making help and hope available
to those in need of it. Mr. Scott Clark, Sports Director / Sports Anchor for ABC-7
New York, serves as Master of Ceremonies. Mr. Clark is also a longtime member of
the Board of ACNY.
The Alcoholism Council of Greater New York, founded in 1966, and the Fellowship
Center, founded in 1958, consolidated in 1990 to become the Alcoholism Council of
New York (ACNY). ACNY, an affiliate of NCADD, is a not-for-profit health organization,
helping people affected by the treatable disease of alcoholism and other drug dependencies.
By providing education, prevention, counseling and advocacy services, the Council restores
hope to individuals and families and enhances the health and productivity of New York City
communities.
Marty Mann, who understood that alcoholism is a treatable and preventable disease,
founded NCADD in 1944. NCADD is the oldest advocacy organization in the country
addressing issues related to alcohol. This understanding remains the guiding principle
of NCADD today. Through their network of nearly 100 affiliates in 29 states, individuals
and families in need are provided with the tools and support to overcome alcoholism
discrimination in health insurance and for continuing and strengthening employee
assistance programs.
By participating in this annual event, you are assisting us in addressing this
critical public health issue. Your financial assistance helps us improve the
quality of life for our children, our families, and the communities in which we
live. Thank you for your generous consideration.
A special thank you to the Christopher D. Smithers Foundation, who in the past
has served as the Sponsor Benefactor for the Spring Luncheon.
